OMFG CURSIVE!!
CURSIVE!!
CUUUURSSIIIIVE!!
OK, let me tell the story right so it isn't just me yelling shit.
Last Thursday I was sitting in the HSSB courtyard, listening to my iPod and reading for seminar when this guy sat down a few feet away from me and proceeded to talk on his cell. I was annoyed that my iPod would no longer go loud enough to drown out noise (but WHATEVER. I guess they're just saving me from going deaf later on. pfft), but I'm kind of glad I heard this snippet of his conversation: "We're opening for Cursive, man!"
EXCUSE ME, CURSIVE?? AS IN SADDLE CREEK CURSIVE THAT I LOVE SO FUCKING MUCH???
I didn't believe him and he moved away for the rest of his conversation, but I gathered that Cursive was playing on "the 9th" at the Hub and this guy's band was opening because the people organising this needed a cheap band.
I tried looking up this and any upcoming concerts at the Hub but their website is useless.
Today I picked up toilet paper The Nexus and there it was! Cursive IS playing here November 9th. I'M SO EXCITED!!! HARDLY any cool bands come through here. Save for She Wants Revenge and Death Cab for Cutie, Santa Barbara blows. I don't want to hear your shitty garage band play at some douchebag party, I want some real music, thanks.
CURSIVE!!
I'M SO EXCITED!!
I haven't seen them since my senior year in high school.
In Halloween news: I've never been so unprepared. OK, My Linda Richman costume freshman year was very last minute, but I had time to get an ugly sweater from my mom and sequins to spruce it up. This is sad. Val and I have been planning on going out as Aziraphale and Crowley since last year, but Halloween snuck up on us. I had no success at the thrift store down the street, not even in finding a curly blonde wig. Well, I found one, but I am NOT paying 14.99 for a used wig that's been tangled in a bin full of other wigs. Fuck that shit.
Halloween is, by the way, this weekend. Since the day itself falls next Wednesday, I was confused as to whether the madness would be this weekend or the next. This one makes more sense as its still October, and the Nexus confirmed that with its reminder of the parking restrictions in IV: taking place starting Thursday night.
This is my last Halloween at UCSB, goddamit, I'm afraid it's going to blow. I NEED A COSTUME, GODDAMIT!!
shows,
halloween,
