This is the first post in ages where I'm not ranting/bitching/raging over the huge WTF-shaped issues I have with this season. This post is full of flail and profound bond.
"I wish circumstances were different - much of the time, I'd rather be here."
First, their faaaaaces. Look at them!
It means so much that Cas prefers to be here - what else does he have here besides Dean - cuz unlike S5, when Cas didn't have a choice but stay... now he does. He wants to stay. And while there isn't much Dean can help with (Cas tells him that much) and Cas can't leave the war in heaven, he needs Dean to understand, he needs him to know that. He'd rather be here.
Brb dying all over again.
"We're your friends."
Dean has been very short and impatient with Cas this season, knowing, but refusing to understand that Cas is at war, and can't pop in to save their ass 24/7. And now finally, he gets it. He understands Cas has more pressing issues to deal with, and not only that, he tells Cas that he and Sam are his friends - meaning him only since Sam is not really anyone's "friend" right now, sadly - and offers to help. I loved how he didn't say it in too many words, but still sincere, meaning it.
Don't you just love how they alike they are, not really looking at the other, awkward with emotions, terrible at saying stuff that actually matters?
These two. so emotionally stunted. favourite people.
