I wanted to fucking rip Dean's head off when he said that. Seriously. What has the show done to their relationship? You don't build up such a powerful bond, and have it almost break completely(with a sacrifice, mind you!) then do this shit. Honestly, it was like reading a bad fanfic. One where everybody is completely out of character and the story plot nulls ACTUAL CANON.
I get that the bond between the brothers/the apocalypse is the main focus, but still! You just don't do that! Not to fucking Castiel! In this episode he sacrificed himself again to save the Winchesters, and Dean doesn't even flinch - doesn't even stop to be grateful to an angel that has slowly losing his grace. That's another thing: wtf, Cas becoming human? No fucking thanks. It's almost as if the show wants us to dismiss Cas, and prepare for season six which I'm positive will be rubbing Wincest in our faces more than ever. It's getting pretty ridiculous. IMO, the whole appeal of slash(or any non-canon) pairings is the aspect of "what if?". It lets you explore the boundaries and push them even. If you're going to make Wincest disgustingly canon, that takes so much away from it.
I know I'm bitching and this seems like a petty rant - I can't help it. Castiel has become such an important figure in the Supernatural world. I really want to like scream and it hurts to bad. I'm a crazy fan. I guess I should simplify the reason I'm ranting: the fucking reunion was done over the phone. Ugh. Smooth, show, smooth. Why don't you give us a Sam/Dean kiss already then? Fuckers.
Other than that(ALL THAT), the episode was alright. Lol.
Ugh, they broke my soul with that scene, I cant even watch it again, it pisses me off too much. He was such a heartless dick in that scene, all back to business... wtf Dean, Cas just told you he was braindead, show some fucking concern!!! I know with Cas being such a BAMF and all, Dean forgets that he is a falling angel, not as strong he used to be, but I hate how he still continues to take him for granted. How many times does Cas have to tell him that he's given up everything for him to have Dean realise it, and show some fucking gratitude?
Exactly, he saved their asses once again, and still, not a fucking word, how hard is it to say thank you? I cant stand how Cas got no consideration for putting his life on the line to rescue the boys (im tired of how many times this has happened!) or even the fact that he is basically human now! He keeps giving and giving, and gets nothing in return. And its alright as long as he saves the brothers and the brothers save the day, ugh.
You put it perfectly, it was like bad fanfiction, everything was just so OFF... and everything they'd built up to so far (Dean/Cas especially), is being dismantled, so brutally. Also Im just so done with rationalizing Dean's behaviour, explaining this harsh lack of emotion, by saying that thats what Dean is like, Im sorry, but this is not IN CHARACTER anymore!!!! Even if one doesnt see things from a shipper's pov, Dean/Cas is canon, what Cas gave up for him is huge, and their bond is real, and I cant take them dismissing it like it never existed except in our heads. We're getting NOTHING from Dean, I need something from him now, this is killing mee!!
And thank you, Im kinda alone in wanting Cas to stay an angel, almost everyone is okay with it, and mostly I get why, I also get how it would make more sense, and how that improves his chances of being in S6, but I dont want it!!! :( Maybe they just made him human only to kill him in the finale.
Its not a petty rant, I still cant stop raging over it, it was just that wrong. We got nothing face to face, not even a ~look, cuz Dean and Cas can express a lot like that, especially what they cant say.
I know the show is about the Winchesters, and I knew investing in something on the show that doesnt concern them is a bad, stupid idea, but Castiel is the pull for me now, he's what keeps me watching. And I loathe the way they're treating him, hate how he's been wasted this season. And Im better off not thinking about Wincest. I love the brothers, and have always known it will be the two of them in the end, but the show is starting to annoy me, they're pushing SamandDean too hard down our throats, but the main issue I have is that they're wrecking everything else to pimp them, thats just bad writing.
I liked the episode, but sadly, my opinion of the episode nowadays is coloured by the quantity and quality of Castiel and Dean/Cas we get.
ps: ignore the typos, its fucking 5AM here and im barely awake.
