I love this picture.
I found
this photography website because this husband-and-wife-team photographed the wedding of Bethany Dillon, one of my favorite Christian artists. Some of the photos I find a too blanched-out, but there's no mistaking: any of their shots could easily be substituted into an advertisement, or a CD sleeve. I don't know how they do it, but it's striking to think that 'ordinary' folk have the chance to be photographed in such a way, say for their wedding or senior pictures. Go check it out.
I might be taking some of my sister's pics, and the thought terrifies me. I like photographing things that are relatively static. Give me a grasshopper over a girl any day - not because a grasshopper is more beautiful, but because it is easier.
School beckons in the distance. I've been saying to everyone that I can't wait, but currently, the thought of expending so much energy all at once, in a new direction, is just distasteful. I'll have an introductory Latin course on my plate (all the better to understand the Latin text in LiveJournal's photo uploading tab!), a history course, 2 English courses and an introductory Journalism course. And - of course! - a brand-new job writing news stories for the campus newspaper.
Yeah, I'll be busy.
My job right now is to buy a futon; my roommate has already gotten the TV and DVD player (how long will it be until DVDs are phased out? They're going to seem so big and bulky in not so long). Of course, there's other things to buy - do you remember? A new bookbag (I'm tired of backpacks), paper/notebooks, a planner, a different shower tote, Wite-Out. I need to clean and research two new articles for the wedding magazine (YAY, but I shrink from contacting strangers for interviews), schedule another meeting with my incipient roommate, and generally get my act together. Oh, and practice for guitar. I have a lesson today.
I requested to learn Coldplay's "In My Place"; I like the driving beat. My teacher told me it'd be easier than some of the others I chose (that's a teaching method, having us pick real songs to learn early on, so it feels like we're playing actual music. It often sounds foreign to the recording, though, and when I complain of this he laughs and tells me to be patient). My nice guitar is getting some actual use, finally. I really wonder, though, if I'll ever get to the point where I can actually compose songs with it.
I don't know. Just felt like saying hi, though there really isn't anything to say :) Other than, well, yes, Richard Russo's Empire Falls is an excellent book, and Nina Simone, master jazz singer, can make you cry. And Heath Ledger plays sick and demented so much better than anybody could have imagined. Other than that, though... the heat stifles, people anxiously make plans, and I'm sitting here trying, still trying to figure out what to do with myself :) Hope you have a blessed day.
