odds n'ends

Behold, it is warm!

If Hayden Christensen, as he is in the Attack of the Clones ("You're in my very soul, tormenting me") can get Natalie Portman, well, shucks, folks. Hope springs eternal. :)

I have something like a month left of this semester. One girl on my floor is anxiously marking the days on her white board. Not me. I have no idea what I'll be doing this summer, but it's a same bet I'll be nowhere as academically and possibly socially engaged as I am during the school year, which is a grave disappointment. I'm mulling over what to do. Part-time at a daycare? Maybe.

Y'all, the next Narnia movie comes out this summer. Par-tay. (As silly as they can be, it still just makes me happy.)

We watched a few Rob Bell clips at an artists' conference. I am intrigued. I knew a few of my friends liked him, but hadn't really been inspired to pick up any of his books.

The Kenyon Review has a new cover design (turquoise!), and unfortunately I felt like I'd spent too much $ lately to take it home from the store last night. :P (Ooh, and they're featuring an interview with Ted Kooser... great stuff)

I enjoyed I Am Legend. It is actually a successfully creepy movie. And aside from its sci-fi elements, there's a great short-story-like magical realism to it, which really adds to it.

And ohmigosh. The Shrek sequence in this movie is possibly the best thing I have ever seen. Period. Mucho love to Mr. Will Smith, who is smashing(ly good) in this movie.

One last bit of good news: I think there are daffodils coming up outside my dorm room, under the normally austere-looking trees with needles on the ground. They look so soft and new, buds gently dipping in the wind. It is really going to be beautiful.

These are flowers in the rain from a few days ago.

Adios.
