Some times - quite often in fact - it seems that Jimmy Eat World are the lens through which I feel emotions. I just want my journal to be their words and you would understand what they mean to me.
Anyway, that was written last night when I was really tired and there was more written and it was me emoing about girls. Let me summarise: Guys, I am emo and I wish girls - specific girls, not just girls in general (though also girls in general) - liked me.
The Bar is my least favourite area to work on at the cinema, but today it wasn't too bad. I made a CD for the bar a while ago and because it is the only good CD we have everyone keeps playing it which makes me feel far happier than it should but the downside is now I'm getting pretty bored of that mix. The first track on it, OK Go's Here It Goes Again has a fantastic video that cannot be tainted but just listening to the mp3 of it now reminds me of the bar and that is not a good thing. So I am making a new mix. Two in fact.
The Bar needs upbeat mostly happy stuff. No swearing, no drugs references etc. It's got to be family friendly and it's got to keep you awake. Here It Goes Again is a good example of what I'm talking about. In fact, screw it. Here's all the tracks on it. Make it yourself and take it to work and imagine that you're me. Think about dinosaurs. Overuse the word 'awesome'. Wonder if you should be embarrassed that you don't really know what fire is made of and be surprised that no-one has ever asked you that question.
Ok Go - Here It Goes Again; Brand New - (Fork and Knife); Angels & Airwaves - Call To Arms; The All-American Rejects - Move Along; The Appleseed Cast - Innocent Vigilant Ordinary; Kill Hannah - Love You To Death; Last Days of April - It's On Everything; Feeder - Buck Rogers; Ash - Burn Baby Burn; Weezer - Don't Let Go; Hellogoodbye - All Of Your Love; Jimmy Eat World - The Middle; Motion City Soundtrack - Make Out Kids; The Hoosiers - Worried About Ray; The Killers - Mr. Brightside; Phantom Planet - California; Remy Zero - Out/In; Magenta Skycode - Luvher oh Hater; Hot Hot Heat - Bandages; The Automatic - Raoul
So yeah, the new Bar mix will probably feature a lot of the same artists. I can't imagine making it without, say, the bouncy happiness of The All-American Rejects or - as the first paragraph points out - the sheer me-ness of Jimmy Eat World.
The second mix is one for Gallery. Gallery needs to be a little mellower; this one is much more background music and needs to be a little laid back. Although the Gallery is technically over 18's only, the same rules for music have to apply: family friendly. At the moment I'm thinking one of Shiny Toy Guns' quiter tracks, probably We Are Pilots, of course some Jimmy Eat World, maybe Gotta Be Somebody's Blues, though that song isn't really me at all. Maybe the new version of Your House, but I'd have to mess around with the mp3 I've got of it to take out the blips. Oh, and The Smashing Pumpkins - The Beginning Is The End Is The Beginning because that's in the Watchmen trailer and guys: for awesome.
For about two hours the queue for the box office at the cinema stretched from box to Norwegian Blue, the pub on the other side of the square our cinema faces. If you do not know my cinema, let me explain: The queues were very very long and stayed that way for a long long time. The bar was pretty quiet for most of it though; after queuing for ages everyone wanted to go straight into their screen. It got a bit busier later as films started selling out and people needed somewhere to wait for an hour or so until they could get into a later showing.
Tomorrow I really am going to go get a Dashboard Confessional ticket. Then I have my interview for the job in the projection department which I am getting increasingly nervous about. I don't really know how to prepare for interviews so I'm going to do what I did for the interview to get the job I currently have: know what I want and hope my brain can translate this into words. Hey, it worked last time. In the evening I might have time to play a little Changeling (I hope so; it's been a month and a bit since the last game and I miss it) before going to see The X Files: I Want To Believe. After that I don't think there'll be much if any of tomorrow left, and I'll spend that walking home.
