I definitely can't wait to hear the next releases from Necrophagist and Dillinger Escape Plan. Both bands just got some serious jazz drumming talent on board. DEP recently got Gil Sharone (from Stolen Babies), and Necrophagist snagged Marco Minnemann last spring. That ought to be the absolute best sh*t I've blasted in a long time. (Not to mention, Necrop on 7 string guitars should move more than a few bowels with their rich, ENGL amp fueled tones... That'll really let the bassist play the lower notes of his 6 string monsters. Get those Depends underpants ready!!! :P)
I think Gil's perfect for DEP, given the band's penchant for using complex melodies that's at times much closer to free jazz, and avant stuff than it is hardcore or even technical metal. I'm not sure about Marco in Necrop, but he ought to relate to bassist Stefan Zimmers; Stefan also has some experience in jazz.
Somebody should kick Alex Skolnick's @$$ and make him play a track on the next DEP album, hehe... :D He did a track on a Lamb Of God album a few years ago, along with Chris Poland (I think, but Chris did a different track...?).
