Well I feel much better. Ended up going to a concert on Saturday, which I have only now recovered from. It was a heavy metal concert of the Deftones and System of a Down ( Read more... )

I've never been a metal person, but I definitely agree that music is an amazing mood-healer :)

I COMPLETELY agree with you on the music front, it's truly the universal anti-drug. I also completely disagree with folks who think heavy metal is only for one type of audience - oh no. It's therapeutic as fuck. I'm glad you went to that concert, sounds like just what you needed!!! :)

I've fallen out of it a bit and my musical tastes have mellowed a little as I got out of high school. Heh. Maybe that goes with me being less angry than I was in high school. But I still listen to it now and again.

I do miss those 90's heavy rock bands. Pretty much all the popular music coming out now is r&b/dance derivative or soft indie, and people have to turn to Scrillex for aggression-releasing music.
Was your concert open-air? I've been to metal concerts in basements of clubs, and the bass and the drums vibrate your whole body and you feel a bit deaf for days afterwards, but it is really the best feeling when you're in the mood for it.

I know. The soft indie rock thing is disappointing because I tend to towards harder sounding music. I mean they still exist, but largely not as much.

The concert was open air. I've been to them indoors before and the sound is a lot louder. I was just impressed that they could still get that level of volume even outdoors this time.

It's sad when they're saying rock is dying to pop. I mean, it doesn't have to be industrial or grunge, but I'd like a little force behind the music instead of making it seem like the bands are all anemic. Gone are the days when the amazing collection of songs on the 'Queen of the Damned' soundtrack can come together. (Terrible movie, amazing sountrack).

That concert sounds like it was a whole lot of fun. I don't tend to do too many concerts, and the loudest I've done is Kamelot (progressive/symphonic European syle metal) and it wasn't outdoors.
