1. What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before?
Got paid to do a psycic reading. Voted in a presidential election. I LARPed, started playing Dungeons and Dragon, and started playing WoW. I want my nerd crown now. Oh and I visited the FBI.
2. Did you keep your New Year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't really make resolutions, I would always forget.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Not this year.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
Not anyone especially close to me this year, though my step-mother's father Gus did pass away and there have been a smattering of other deaths.
5. What countries did you visit?
No foreign countries for me this year.
6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
Perhaps a bit more mental stability would be nice, but unlikely.
7. What date from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
I can't keep track of dates, but my frist LARP event. This guy I like (Shhhh, it's a secret...kind of sort of...damn people and psycic powers) was helping me out the entire time. It was grand, even though I started hysterically laughing periodically during it because I couldn't believe the ridiculousness of what I was doing and I was also terribly quiet while I observed. People seemed so nice to me and my friend was telling me which ones were stalkers to avoid.
Also the day Barack Obama won the election. The entire campus errupted into a giant mass of screams and celebrations. I've never seen anything like it before.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Finishing a ten page paper in two days and getting a good grade on it.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Burning out a little near finals and probably doing poorly on them.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Well other than mental illness, no not really. My immune system is strong like a dragon.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
Best thing? Injury make-up. It amuses me while I am bored at my desk.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
My friend's behavior(Brandon, Lou, Ed, Kristina). So many people who had no reason to befriend me did and I am shocked. I still don't understand it to be honest.
13. Whose behavior appalled you?
Ah now those are a lot more numerous. Some select "college" friends who decided to just become permanent drunkards and are pissing away their college. Disgusting hedonists.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Food. Damn physical nessecities and me actually being social.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Embarking upon many nerdy adventures with my friends. Finding out about some neat new book series. Generally doing things like creating a new Shadowdancer or debating Star Wars with people. The weekends where I could actually afford to relax.
16. What song will always remind you of 2008?
"Vampires" by Godsmack. "Random I am" by Millencollin. "Bracelets" by The Spill Canvas. "Freaks" by M.C. Chris.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Honestly, discounting last night, I am much, much happier. I have a groupd of friends unlike any other I've had and it's refreshing. I even have moments of content balance now.
ii. thinner or fatter? Equal.
iii. richer or poorer? Poorer in money, richer for experiences.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Writing. Training physically.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Staying up all night, doing stupid things that I realize are stupid as I do them.
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
I spent it at my dad's in exile. We then went to my aunts and hung with the family. It wasn't as happy as I remember it being, but the little kids distracted me from family drama.
21. How will you be spending New Year's?
Spent southerly of me, which I rather wish I hadn't. I go molested many times, much to my annoyance, and missed out on a gathering of the people I actually love dearly for that annoyance. C'est La vie.
22. Did you fall in love in 2008?
Not love, but damn I have a strong crush now. Conflabbed emotions and waking up on me.
23. How many one-night stands?
None.
24. What was your favorite TV program?
Criminal Minds. Dexter. True Blood.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
I do dislike some people a good deal more. They have proved themselves to be disloyal and scummy.
26. What was the best book you read?
That I finished? I Never Promised You a Rose Garden by Hannah Greenberg. It's a schizphrenic autobiography.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
A Perfect Circle. Sonu Nigam. Frank Sinatra(Got a lot more into him).
28. What did you want and get?
To have some really good friends. I always have a few, but some more never hurt.
29. What did you want and not get?
Me to actually have a stable relationship. I got many more interested this year, but I fail at holding those I hook.
30. What was your favorite film of this year?
Wall-E or Tropic Thunder.
31. What did you do on your birthday?
I hung with my dad and borther during the day. Then I borrowed a car and drove to friend's house where we explored space as nerds. I felt very loved from the amount of phone calls and texts I kept getting wishing me a happy birthday. I was very quiet that day, which was bad since I forgot how to speak, but it was fun.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
If I had not burned out in school and been able to hold my initial fervor throughout the year.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?
Fashion? The only time I decide what to wear is when I wear a costume.
34. What kept you sane?
My friends. Seriously, without them I would have cracked.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Hugh Laurie or Sharuk Khan for men. Angelina Jolie or Ana Panaquin for girls.
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Ah, there were so many come election time. Probably which candidate is better, Obama or McCain?
37. Who did you miss?
My home friends while I was at college. My college friends early in the summer. Some people that I talk to only sporadically.
38. Who was the best new person you met?
Ed, Brandon, Steve, Lou. They are all made of awesome nerdiness. Seriously really selfless, caring guys who are quite amusing.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008.
If you get a bad feeling about something, chances are they will end badly.
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
"The hardest question to answer is: why?" Seriously there were so many random occurances that turned out strangely for me, either for good or bad.
Happy New Year, Y'all. I hope your celebrations were rocking.
