Here in my car I feel safest of all...or maybe not

Funny thing happened today. I got into a car accident. Not a bad one mind you, everybody was fine. Basically I was in my friend Mike's car with two other friends, Dee and Pat. We were all going to go to Checker's, a burger joint that is a little bit away. So Mike likes to speed...a lot. He was going 50 around a curve in the road that normally people do 25 around. He fishtailed the car, went across all lanes of traffic (which thankfully there was none at that moment, and went over the median landing directly on it. (One of those medians that is high as a curb with rubber poles in it...not metal thankfully). The way we landed apparently we were really close to flipping.

But that's not what I find fascinating. It was just that nobody seemed shaken up about it. The first words out of Mike's mouth wasn't. "Is everybody okay?" it was "So I guess we're not going to Checkers." He even took a few modelling pictures on the hood of the wounded car. Two tires on the drivers side were completely blown out and an axle was broken from the rubber pole. Throughout the day Mike, Pat, and Dee kept taking pictures and even videos of the events unfolding. Mike and Pat were having fun riding "a thing that is both scary and awesome" to quote Pat, as they were riding in the wounded car once it was piled on top of the tow truck. They kept telling us amusing stories about how their driver was some sort of creepy nymphomaniac hispanic, whom they nicknamed Cheech. Me and Dee kept laughing as we were stuffed in the back of a state trooper vehicle and driven to a bus stop, more so once we were in the bus depot and this creepy old Indian man kept staring at us. Everyone else who wasn't involved with the incident kept being worried and asking us if we were okay and giving us hugs. But everyone involved just kept laughing about it. I'm sure this may seem odd to you, I probably would think it odd if I wasn't in the situation, but for some reason all the laughter didn't seem out of place.

So much for burgers.
