Well, sorta. So I got my nose pierced. It's pretty cute actually. Took out my eyebrow because I think it kind of would be too much. Who knows what I'll do with that.
It was actually kind of fun. My friend and co-worker Kelsy had a dream she got her tongue pierced last night. She was practically fixated on it all day. I told her she should go ahead and do it. I figure it's college ya know? Mise well get it out now and not be resentful to my future job for not letting me express myself in my future midlife-crisis. Or perhaps it will just make me more apt to want change? I don't know, either way... college is a good time for that kind of stuff.
So anywho, she's pretty much set on getting it at this point and she was thinking about when she would do it. So after about three hours of thinking and getting excited, she's like, "we'll why don't you come with me?" Needless to say I've wanted a nose stud for awhile now. She struck the new piercing excitement nerve in me and we decided to leave work early to go get it done. My job is great. Seriously. "Hey Eddie, can we leave 30 minutes early to go get pierced?" ... "sure". Surely being an art teacher in the future won't have those kind of benefits. Perhaps it will have more productive benefits however... like being able to support myself. lol.
So all in all it was a good time. The piercer was great and relaxed, which always helps. This was probably the most painful piercing I've gotten... but only because of the pressure of it all and having to wind through the nostril with a oddly shaped stud. It's much harder to put in and clean than a belly button ring. And it actually bled. Weird.
I was thinking about piercings today and how they have become so, not cliche but almost expected. On campus I can walk down the hall with out seeing at least quite a few. It makes me wonder about the future children. I think of how my mom would put potatos to her ears and shove a needle through to pierce them and that was the "rebelious" thing to do. I wonder if body art will just go to the extreme, or they'll bounce back a little and become more conservative. It seems like things go in cycles... kind of like politics.
This perhaps may be just to much thought on the subject.. oh well. It was still a fun experience. I think it's mostly the adrenaline rush. No matter how many piericings I get, I will still be nervous and my stomach will be in knots.
Well... I'm going to play my piano now. I'm learned the "mad world" song from Donnie Darko. That is a GOOD movie if you haven't seen it. Trust me, go rent it.
Have a lovely night! =)
