So I've gotten some requests for photos of our new apartment. I'll include one of our new kitten George(georgette, jorgina (pronounced cc-hoarHAENa).
(Please disregard the mess, Margaret and I have been working extremely long hours and are very nearly drowning under work and chores.)
Margaret is happy with her new job at the credit union. I'm just trying to contain my excitement for getting to go on vacation (Due to lack of time and money for gas, I haven't actually left St. Louis county in months. [that's too long]).
We experimented with tempeh for dinner the other night. Now, I think that if you devote yourself to a health-conscious, sustainable, vegetarian-friendly lifestyle, you'll encounter foods that you like and foods that you dislike. Tempeh for me was not quite either one of those... it was a food that is almost TOO vegetarian.
Soybeans and grains are cooked, injected with mold, cultured for a day and then formed into these blocks which you cook like tofu. It was in a pretty good stir-fry that we made, but... weird times.
Tempeh:
Look at those blocks of "Javanese meat" hiding inside banana leaves. Can't you just imagine them saying "How much of a health nut are YOU, hippy? Can you handle ME?" ?
I saw that the weather is helping the fires in California a bit, this is good news. Mother nature has been straight hatin' this year.
