It would be more like sexual orientationism (i.e. sexism and racism).

Then again, hatred and distaste of what is different usually stems from a fear of the unknown, so homophobia is accurate in that sense. It is debilitating because their fear has so clouded their judgement that they would vote to take away rights from people who have done them no harm. So yes, I would say that the majority of Californias appear to be homophobic motherfuckers.
