Interesting. S.E. Hinton had a habit of capitalizing "Socs" but not "greasers", at least from what I see anyway. I wonder why that was. If I were a psychologist or something, I would say that she subconsciously felt inferior to the Socs and was displaying that by representing Socs as more important with capitalization, but alas, I'm not, and plus,

I don't know much about Saggitarius...but I'm interested about why you guessed I was one. Tell meee. =D
Anywho, one of my friends is a Pisces and my Aunt is a Gemini. She's a bit out there. But my Pisces friend is nothing like a Pisces.
But, I trust those sort of things for personality. They've always fascinated me.
I never noticed that Socs was capitalized and greaser wasn't. But I did find out that "sosh" was an actual slang term. Whether it's pronounced the same as Soc (though, my entire english class still pronounces Soc, "sock"...because that's how it's spelled!) I do not know, but it was for the rich girls who wore bobby socks and such.... So, it's kind of close. Except the fact that sosh is only for one gender. And may not be pronounced the same.

Anyway, I said Sagitarius because it said that they are have "sincerity, a direct approach to life, friendliness, openness, and optimism", and are "frank" and "one of the few things that can cause you to lose your temper is to be accused of dishonesty", have an "unquenchable tintellectual curiousity", are "extremely versatile", are "very independent and need a lot of personal freedom", "like to travel", and flaws are "procrastination and excessive risk taking". So yeah, total guess, but it seemed kinda like you, lol.
Ah, I can't imagine pronouncing it "sock" just because my teacher started us out thinking of it as "sosh" since the first day. That is pretty cool though, that it's a slang term.

Oh, and it's interesting you live so close to Tulsa. My mother used to live nearby too and she recently went back to Oklahoma to visit family for a bit. Turns out her old highschool was having homecoming the same week as us. How convenient is that?
So, now I have a shirt with Bixby emblazoned on the front...

I also had to read the Outsiders in eighth grade. It was actually the *only* book we had to read. I think I got in trouble for reading 101 Arabian Nights (which eighth graders should definately not read) when I was supposed to be reading Outsiders.
