My second entry of the day? *Gasp*. I know, I'm pathetic.
I just got a call from my coeditor, and we were discussing our plans for tomorrow, which is our celebration of our adviser's birthday (the actual birthday was on Friday, so we were planning on doing something then but we didn't have school because of the snow day). We were going to do this whole surprise thing, but with the two snow days and deadlines coming up, we have a very good feeling that she will be rather frazzled. So we decided to make it more lowkey.
I was remembering back to last year though, and what we did then. We planned a huge surprise party, and we had to get her out of the room long enough for us to put up the signs and get out the cake. We asked one of the other teachers to talk to her down the hall a ways. He did his job, and he did it a little too well, because he wound up talking to her for so long that we were ready and waiting. So we sent out two of our reporters to tell her that we needed her in the room.
They went out to get her, and we waited in the room. We were thinking that they would tell her we needed help with a layout or something, but they had other plans in mind. So our adviser comes back, but she's crying. And she just about throttled one of our other, more wild reporters when she walked in.
What they had done was walked up to her, being the good, dramatic actresses that they are, and said "Umm, now don't be mad, okay? But Paivy was dancing around the room (which is entirely believable, trust me), and she accidentally tripped on the cord to your laptop and it fell to the floor. But! We got the keys that popped off and we put them all in a bag so maybe we can just pop them back on?"
So yes, on her birthday, we succeeded in making our adviser cry. We felt terrible, honestly, but she was fine once she realized her apple laptop was in good condition after all. And I think it'll be a birthday she'll always remember.
EDIT: Gosh dang it, I feel really bad now. I forgot to reply to my anonymous reviewer in the newest chapter of Back Home Again. I've always been paranoid that I woudl forget because I just feel so terrible not acknowledging my reviewers, and now I finally did. I'm just going to have to export the chapter, add the review reply in, and when I post the next chapter, mention that I added it in in case she checked the story before now. Of course, she probably really doesn't care that much, but I do.
