This year for Christmas I made my neices rock star jean jackets by knitting apliques to sew on to the collar, cuffs, and pockets. I'm so pleased with how they came out. Everyone I showed them to wanted one either for themself of for the little girl in thier life. When I mailed them off to the girls I tied them up with big glittery bows and tied sparkly lip gloss tubes into the bow. I was feeling pretty confident that this was a kick ass present, but with kids you can never be sure. Too many variables. Is it the right size? Is it going to be less appealing because it was made for them vs. store bought (that one seems less likely with these girls...but still). Am I horribly out of touch with what they think is cool?
I got a call from Kari tonight thanking me for the gifts. She said the girls loved them and tried to convince her that they could wear them to school when it was only 5 degrees out. It got warm this week, and they've been wearing them none stop. That makes me smile. She wanted to know where I'd gotten them, and how on earth did I find them in their favorite colors. I guess I forgot to send a note explaining about making them.
Anyway, I'm so happy with them, I'm making you all look at them.
