House Stress

So as people know, I've been killing myself trying to get the second bathroom built before my house guests come for Christmas. We were still on track to finish as of Saturday. Sadly, Saturday night we came home to discover that a leak had started in one of the pipes behind the vanity. I could hear water dripping down on the medicine cabinet on the first floor, and there was water on the floor in the basement. WTF?? It was fine for a week, and then suddenly it wasn't. How long before I can actually relax and believe the plumbing is stable? *sigh* So we had to replace the shut off valve in the basement because that wasn't so much a shut off valve as it was a slow the water way down valve. After that I had to cut into the wall, and replace a section. It wasn't the hugest deal except that it means I have to now patch the wall before we can put the vanity back, and we didn't get the shower liner in. No shower liner this weekend means no tile this week, and thus no shower before Matt arrives. Not the end of the world, but sooooo disappointing. And the constant anxiety that every little thump is a new leak developing. Yeah. That's not a lot of fun.

Then last night, when temps were getting down to -15, my furnace decided it should be flakey. It was running, but not actually shooting any heat out. I restarted it, and it ran fine after that, but it also wasn't quite heating the house up either. As of this morning it was still hovering at about 5 degrees below what I had it set at. I don't know if that's the furnace or how cold it is outside. Our insulation is good, so I think it's the furnace. *grrrrrrr* I would just like something to go smoothly at the house. I've got this crazy to do list that I'm trying to finish in the next 8 days, and dealing with all the little (and big) snags is not on the list dammit!
