In which I develop a further interest in Classical culture

Dec 22, 2003 13:22

Hello, friends. Again, I apologize... for my inconsistent posting. It has been... a hectic several months. Julius is... maturing nicely. I have tought him... a number of tricks... such as sitting, lying down... and fetching. I take... great pleasure in our walks... in the early hours. It is a moment... of clarity and solitude... in a frantic existence.

I have developed... a great interest... in the poetry and playwriting... of ancient Greece and Rome. I have read much of Euripides... and Plato. I find Aristophanes... to be rather vulgar at times... but amusing nonetheless. Thus far... my favorite works... are Ovid's Metamorphoses, Euripides' Bacchae, and Plato's Republic. I also enjoyed Homer. The writing of our time... often lacks a certain... visceral quality... that is evident in the Classics. And now, friends... Julius is waiting... to venture outdoors.

Thank you.
