it's official...

Aramark is leaving Wentworth for good on June 30th. They have been there for 35 years (before Aramark was even Aramark) and now it's gonna be like a really messy divorce. It's gonna be annoying sorting out all the equipment and what not because some of it Aramark paid for and some of it Wentworth paid for. And who knows what's gonna happen to the employees. They will have the option to stay at Wentworth and work for Chartwells at the same payrate they have now, which most of them will probably do. However, I guarantee that Chartwells will fire most if not all of them after 6 months simply because they all make a lot of money. Most of the employees make tons of money and Chartwells probably isn't going to want to pay them so much because they don't know them. They will keep them on for 6 months, learn their jobs, then fire them and hire their own people. So sad. We will try and save as many of them as we can, by finding them jobs at other Aramark accounts, but unfortunately, we can't keep them all. This makes me sad. I love all my employees as if they were my children, even though technically i could be their child since they are all much much older than i am.

What's even worse is that i don't know what's gonna happen to me. Chartwells is going to offer me the job to stay at Wentworth, and the school really wants all of us managers to stay, but i don't think morally i could do it. Wentworth really stabbed us in the back, and I don't want to make their lives any easier. Also, I don't really want to do catering at Wentworth anymore. I did it for one year, and the events pretty much repeat themselves every year, so it wouldn't be very exciting or challenging at all. Plus, I hate most of the faculty and staff at Wentworth anyway. However, if Chartwells is going to offer me a lot more money than i am making now with similar benefits, and Aramark isn't willing to match them, well than that is another story.

I mentioned above that Wentworth really stabbed us in the back. Allow me to explain. About a month ago, Wentworth's director of finance told us that we were out and Chartwells was in. He gave no warning and no chance to counter bid. We gave him a proposal anyway, and he rejected it. Then we gave him another proposal and he said that this one was good, but not quite what he was looking for. So, we went and asked him exactly what he was looking for, and then submitted a third proposal. He liked the proposal and said he would think about it. He thought about it for a month, and yesterday told us that we were definitely out. We came to find out that he had given all of our proposals to Chartwells and told them to outbid us. He never gave us any of Chartwells proposals. He basically used us as a pawn to get more money from Chartwells and strung us along, letting us believe we were in the bidding, just so that he could use our proposals as bait for Chartwells. Fucking asshole. We also have reason to believe that the only reason he waited so long to tell us that we were out of the bidding was because there happened to be a lot of very important catering coming up, and he wanted to make sure that it went over well with no interruption from the changing of companies. Yesterday was the most important of the events, a reception for the new president of Wentworth, so it makes sense that he chose yesterday to tell us, since we were already doing the event anyway. bastard.

so that's my rant about the crappiness and uncertainty going on at wentworth. in other news, i am going home to NY this weekend to visit the fam, celebrate my mom's bday, hang out with friends, get drunk, and get my car inspected. the rest of the week i will be at the aramark training summit in marlborough. and the following week i am going to hartford for another training session. and the week after that is my birthday and also when we leave wentworth. so this is the month of traveling apparently.

and this is pretty long so i'm gonna end it...............now.
