A very fun weekend.
Friday I went to Girlbar with Janna and her girlfriend Tammy. I like to go out with them because they're both in AA and have been sober for years so I don't feel like I have to drink (though they have no problem with it if I do). We went early because they were having a comedy night. Hilarious gay comics. Plus, That's What She Said performed. During the show, I looked across the dance floor (on which they had set up tables and chairs) and noticed a man who looked familiar. Poppy, the host comic, made fun of him and the guy he was with for being the only gay men in the audience. They laughed. Later, I noticed him look at me a few times. Weird. After the show, I was talking to Poppy to get on her mailing list and the guy comes up and I realize its my professor from my alien class last quarter. CRAZY. We talked a little and he said that he's been to The Abbey often but that was his first time at Girlbar. Again: CRAZY. At least I got confirmation that he's gay =] The dancing was a lot of fun at Girlbar because all of the comics stuck around. Dancing with Poppy and the girls from That's What She Said made for a great night.
Saturday I bussed it out to Burbank to spend time with Fabiana. We decided to go to Melrose because her new roommate Marco has never been there (he's from San Fransisco). Before that, though, we had to meet up with Fabi's friend/co-worker at Aramark. He makes comedy shorts and needed people to help him with test shots. After a number of technical difficulties and a few too many goof-off shots we finally made it to Melrose. After spending a few hours and no money there we went back to Burbank to hang out. Around 9 the three of us decided to go to Moonshadow (a lesbian bar in NoHo). Fabi had been there a few years ago and hated it, but she was willing to see if it had changed. It had. Cheap drinks and good music. I ran into Cori there, too. We left early, shortly after midnight. That night led to some great things...
This morning we went to the Getty because Fabi was meeting some friends there and I had to see a photo exhibit for one of my classes. I though we were going to part ways when we got there, but her friends took 2 hours to show up. I left after her friends arrived because I didn't want to intrude on her plans.
All in all, a very good start to the winter quarter =]
