Ganesh is still laughing at me...

Apr 10, 2008 21:24

In my last post I suggested that the Gods were having a laugh at my expense. Since Ganesh is the one with the mischievous bent, I continue to suspect he is largely culpable for the fact that April Fool's Day has become April Fool's Month. Is anyone else being victimised by Ganesh this month? Should we write the boy a lettre of complaint? It's hard ( Read more... )

.Mikey! (Mike Weir) GO TEAM CANADA! (+1) GO MIKE!!!!

I think the ebay auctions have been recalculated so that every bid takes it up $500, not $50. Really, on a $1,500 opening bid, each bid should take it up a significant amount. Ergo, on the Callum dinner, there are still the three bids [MD, someone else, MD] but each bid has taken it up sooooo much more. I just hope it doesn't end up taking MD out of the running. It will be interesting to see what happens in the final few hours.

I LOVE that painting. I am a painter too and I do really find the beginning stages interesting. The whole process is really cool. So thanks for posting all the pics :)

I thought MD was the bidder called c***l, and she is not the winning bidder right now? Also, the increments are still set at $50 (next bid would be $2600 or higher). It must just be that ebay isn't displaying the interim bids as the maximums got taken out?

Yay! I'm glad someone loves the painting, because I have NO IDEA WHAT ITS DOING!HEE11! Yet. I'm really finding that photographing the different stages helps me with the problem-solving process. I want to see your work!

Oh my god, I should NEVER post a comment before I have my morning coffee. *sigh* You are right about the auctions. Ah DUH. Perhaps the bidders have just upped the ante? I don't know. I just hope MD wins!!!!!! And that I can be her guest, or at least give her a place to sleep!

My work is... curious. Mostly acrylics of xrays and skeletons, and some abstracts. Perhaps one day I will be inspired to post pics :) The biggest problem I had painting is OVERpainting. Continuing to paint when after I should've just stopped. Adding too much crap.

Heh. I swear I spent a good amount of time staring at that thing last night and this morning before it started to make sense (even after applying caffeine). I'm so tempted to get in touch with MD and say HERE! With your money and my money we can stomp all over this cranky m*** personage. Unfortunately, I've never really interacted with MD, so that would be a little wierd.

Your work sounds intriguing! I went through a period of painting skeletons and bones for a while I think because I was really into the structure of things. I get you on the OVERpainting and it is one of the reasons I LOVE oils versus acrylics...they're more forgiving and give you more time to correct or simply wipe away completely. With the advances they've made in mediums, the turn-around time on drying has increased quite a bit, too.

You can tell MD that I sent you *g* ... I am REALLY interested in seeing what happens on the last day. I just wish I had some money to bid. Or, uh, ANY money.

I had my paintings in a gallery for a while, yeeeeeeears back. [like, 1994? Or something?] Oils give me a fierce headache, and actually I havent painted at all in a while. Ive been writing instead. But I really DO need to paint again... its a fantastic creative outlet. Please post more paintings pics, if you have them!

I'm going to wait until a little closer to the end date, but I may well do so! It will be a lean month if I go through with it, heh.

Hyep, that's the downside with oils--fumes, more mess, more specific work environment. I had to pack up the whole painting area and store it when I first got the awful whippet. Writing is an excellent creative outlet, too. I think mostly it's important to just DO SOMETHING, it's good for the brain!

There's several other art-related posts around here under the tags painting and inspiry, all of which should have more pics.

Lean month vs Not getting to see Callum? HMMM *g* If my hubby wouldnt strangle me for spending part of our house downpayment, I would totally be bidding....

I do lots of things that are good for my brain. I am addicted to crosswords and scrabble for my left brain... and writing for my right brain :)

*goes searching for more pics* :)
