A lot of non-anime tv shows here...like, almost all of them in fact, use music from anime owned by the same studio as their background music. The tv studios own the rights to so much music made for anime that I guess it's just easier to use it than to come up with new music. I encounter this every day. Yesterday I saw a cooking show that used music from Evangelion all throughout. I also saw a show that had music from Card Captor Sakura. And then I saw one soccer-related bit that used that theme from Read or Die that plays during the big action sequences. Sometimes I can't identify it immediately but I know I've heard it in an anime, so I'll sit there and make a game out of guessing what anime that music came from.
I also saw J-Rock darts on tv the other day. It was funny. Gackt scored a measly 7 points. Speaking of Gackt I saw a new commercial with him in it yesterday. This girl had him as her cellphone strap. Like, full-sized, living him. She carried him around under her arm, and then got a phonecall and he just kinda dangled there weightlessly while she talked. It was funny.
