I continue to wade through the disaster area that is my program after huge budget cut knocked 25% out of the agency. Including 7 1/2 staff in my program. There are 16 program participants who don't have jobs in the community anymore. Plus, there are 3 program participants who were terminated from this program because they weren't eligible for funding anymore.
Having sliced and diced, we're still at a stage where nothing is routine and everything requires decisions.
One decision we made last year was to switch over to a commercially available software for doing our paperwork. The biggest job is doing Interdisciplinary Service Plan reports. I didn't really learn it, because I didn't have to write those. Now, I do. Oh bloody joy!
I'm writing things out the old fashioned way and then transferring it into the new software because the format is confusing. This software is more efficient for the Direct Service Staff, but at the moment a goal that would take me fifteen minutes to write is taking a couple of hours.
Urgh. Eventually, I'll get the hang of it.
We're doing newspaper interviews at 10:00 to talk about what all of this has done to the people in our programs. I'm not allowed to say things like "Those mother fuckers in the state capitol who have decided to kick people with intellectual disabilities to the curb."
Rats. I could make this a much more interesting interview.
One good thing. I start teaching my Paranormal Investigation 101 class tonight. That will be fun.
