So my suit mate is doll collector of Japanese style dolls. She has so many that she has either put together her self or brought from other people. And these style dolls have different body types, paint their faces, add and style wigs. Each one seems to express a different personality.
Here are some of the dolls she owns. The one on the left is woman and the right is a thin boy.
Some people find it a strange habit to take a doll to conventions, or picnic and show them off to other collectors. I have heard some people call it childish, but what about those people who collect trains. But watching my friend paint on the lips and coloring of the cheeks, I would say it is unappreciated art form. It is another form of creating an statue.
These dolls where can customize the pieces (from hair, to facial to eyes) makes me rethink complaining about Barbie pieces or looks. When you look at dolls as a child toy, you don't want to pay alot. When you think of all the work (or fun) artist went through designing them it becomes a little easier to fork over the money. However, I would personality pay more to make a customize doll.
It seems like dressing up for your body type (mini version). But what is your opinion on it? Please comment!!!
