Today a senior brought me a thank you note. As part of their English class this year, they were supposed to write a thank you note to a teacher who had an impact on their life. I didn't think I would get any as I mostly teach sophomores and freshmen, who never seem to remember you much beyond the year they have you. But I got one this year. In it she thanked me for giving her the courage to come out to her best friend and told me that she felt so much better after she did, and would never have done so if I weren't out at school. :-) It made me feel good.
Things I am grateful for today.
- My pets, who never cease to entertain me when I am feeling blue. Today, I brought home a box of biodegradeable packing peanuts, dumped them on the dining room rugs, and the dogs and ferrets are having a blast.
- My parents who have graciously given me the $550 I need to start an online grad class this summer on my path towards Masters Plus 30 and a raise.
- Having two vehicles which, while older, still work very well and let me do the things I need to do.
