Direct answer to Mallozzis last entry

Nov 07, 2010 16:22

Well, I was never a true reader of Joseph Mallozzis blog. After the debacle of my life three years ago I completely stopped reading it and any trial to return failed. But I know how to get the informations. But sometimes I would wish I would simply ignore this sources and get over it ...

Anyway, the last entry made me really angry. And this time I want to write a responce to it. Well, this emotion I have had sometimes before but this time I have wrote it down. The comment is now awaiting moderation and I'm sure it will not make it. But why I should not use this way to spread my words?

Sorry, this entry is really not for SGU-fans-eyes. And this time I will moderate. I'm not a SGU-fan, and I feel free to pos what I like, within critics.

And this is my answer:

I'm feeling like a handpuppet right now but enough is enough. The end of my endurance is here and I have to react. So, here I am one of your so called angry-SGA-fans and member of one of the anti-SGU-sites you are ranting about.

I'm sorry to disappoint you but I'm really not a fan of Stargate Universe. I'm a fan of the both former shows and interested in the franchise >except< SGU. I'm a fan from the very beginning till the end of SGA what, what a surprise to hear for you, wasn't satisfying or well done for me - my own taste but I know I'm not the only one who thinks so. Therefore I don't think this comment will come through your censorship but it's okay. I also can post this comment to the forums and/or to my own blog and LJ. May I don't have your wide spread audience but I know how to show the public what I think.

Why there are sites out there in the world wide web which are existing because of „hating“ SGU? No, you are completely wrong with your suggestion. Nearly no one at this sites like or love (horrible imagination!) Stargate Universe. Okay, a few fanboyz always think it could change anybodys mind when they try to blame once more SGA-fans at a SGU-hate-site. Well, I think no one is really in need to understand this behaviour. But on the other side they have you and BW who are thinking to permanently put more oil in the water could be a good idea. Just for the record: it isn't!

So, why are people out there who enjoys to discuss against your show. For my own part as a long lasting fan of the Stargate-franchise it is simply the censorship. Nearly everywhere you are in the WWW where Stargate is a theme you meet SGU-fans. No problem so far. SG-1 and SGA-fans were all the times sticking together. There were some long and generative controvercities about the episodes, the seasons, the actors, the writings out there. It was a pleasure to be a SG-fan. But this changed rapidly when SGU was rising.

Today you cannot say any kind of open word in any SG-forum I know, not when this word is negative. Everytime you start to discuss about what you like or do not like about SGU there are SGU-fans bashing you. In big and old forums like Gateworld you only have a chance to talk more or less seriously in PMs and in Spoiler-tags. Sorry, this is not the fandom I loved once before.

And it's not only in the English fandom this virus came over to Germany with season 1 of SGU. Today your only chance to speak open is when you are member of an anti-SGU-community. Whereever you go and how small the existing fanbase is you always get a straight hit in the face by using only one single word of critic. No matter about the reasons, if you don't fell in love and squee all the time about how awesome the last episode was, you are a hater and in need to be punished.

What I really hate is this kind of censorship. And I also hate your behaviour about always kicking the SGA-fans. I for myself never was on a con, I was never attacking any of the actors or you or someone else. All I want is that I can speak open without beeing dissed about my words.

I gave SGU 10 chances before I went away. That's much more then much other show get from me. I tried the show once more when it came over to Germany. Maybe the synchronisation could do what the original never did - but once more it failed for me. So I'm not longer interested in this show. Okay, I'm from another continent, I'm not a squeeing fangirlie but an 39 years old woman. So I am not the audience of SGU and not neccesary for it's success or downfall.

What BW and you told before: This is not my father's stargate - of course, it isn't. And if I don't like the show I feel no need to watch it - so I do. But I'm still interested in the fandom because I have some friends there. I'm still interested in spreading my own meaning and do critics when I think this is useful. By the way, you and the rest of the PTB are professionel writers, you should know it ways better then to bring on this fan-war to the whole fandom. You should listen or ignore the critic that is given to public, like every professionel do. I have worked for some years as a critic I know different reactions from authors and as a writer I also know how much some critic can hurt yourself. But as a professionel you should go over it and not try to use the power you have to start a war in the fandom. This is, sorry, childish behaviour and fits not very well to an adult.

So, if this is what you called „angry“ or „offendend“ so you should spend some of your time in a Stargate-forum of your choice and read some reactions from SGU-fans. I do not know only ONE „angry SGA-fan“ who is dissing and punishing any of the actors, the producers or whomelse. But I know pretty much „angry SGU-fans“ who are trying to kick anybodys arse only by the possibility of any critic.

Maybe it is your further reason to damage the fandom (and in this way the franchise) so much that no one ever would put only one finger on it in the future. I hope not but my own paranoia bring this idea to my mind. I for myself could have lived without SGU and without any fan war. It is possible that people like me have did their negative entries and finally went away from this part of the fandom to ignore it. But the way SGU-fans are acting bring me straight to the fences. And when I have to read what you and the other members of the PTB sometimes told and tell to the fanbase I am really angry. And for this times I am a member of an anti-SGU-site, not to fall in love secretly or to offend any actor, writer, producer, etc. personally. If there are really such insults out there in the WWW they are often direct reactions of interviews or blogentries.

As a writer you know how powerful words are. I'm not reading your blog very often, better I never read it only stumble about copied entries or quotes on other sites. But I've got a feeling that you are very amused about the power you have over the fandom and that this is very satisfying for you. Like I have written at the beginning I feel like a handpuppet - your handpuppet - right now. I react directly to another of your entries and I know I'm not the only one. Ask yourself was this power really the deeper reason for this blog? Or did you once made this blog to share some good and also bad times with others?

When SGU is cancelled it isn't the fault of any SGA-fan. The most SGA-fans were watching SGU's first episodes, some left, some are still watching. Maybe not as fans, others still as. Always to put your finger in the SGA-fan-direction isn't right, could not be right, sorry. This is an abuse of the power you have. Is this really what you want? Do you really enjoy to finally destroy the franchise you was working on for many years? Are you really sure you are not able to let it go so maybe someone else in the future could take it to make another show, maybe like SGU but maybe more then the former shows SG-1 and SGA?

stargate, mallozzi, sgu
