There's no place like home on the holidays! and damnit, I'm feeling it so bad. Two weeks into this trip, I was hit with a sudden bout of homesickness. I yearned for mom and dad's cooking, Kenny and Tenchi's purring, and everything and everyone between that. Suddenly I was expected to cook for 12? Breakfast, lunch, and dinner! and suddenly no parents were there to do my laundry. That's when I realized how much of a prat I was before this experience :p Not to say I'm spoiled, because I'm not, but just as far as expressing my appreciation for the hard work of my great parents. So I picked up the phone one day, "just called to say thanks...". As corny as it sounds, it was a well deserved thanks, something I should've said years ago. Anyways, aside from those random musings that run through my head ... all about missing home, I'm also having a great time! Living in this part of Ottawa makes me LOVE Toronto, and miss public transit, eaton center, any mall for that matter, and more ethnic diversity haha! I've probably seen 6 people of colour thus far, which may explain the second look Dane and I get when we walk down the street. The people in town are super nice, waving from their cars if they met you before! We've had a party thrown for us at Town Hall, and I've been in two newspapers in a month, and I haven't seen a copy of either article? There's so much more to say, but I will skip it all due to lack of computer time (1 computer in the house, among 12 of us). I will say one thing though, my placements are amazing. Great learning experiences, great people, and the feeling I get from the whole volunteer experience. More on those later! I'm off to organize a trip to Parliament whoop whoop?!
