We finally have every last possession moved from the old apartment to the new duplex. It is a complete disaster here because we haven't done much unpacking yet, but it is already shaping up to look really charming. We have already put up blinds and curtains with pretty finials, which is something I was always too chicken to do in the old apartment. That place was so new and sterile-feeling that I was afraid we'd be penalized for any sort of screw-holes we put in the walls. Eh. Really couldn't do much to decorate the old place so it ended up feeling kind of like a shoebox.
I won't complain about it though, because it really was a nice place. But we are going to like this one just as much for different reasons. It feels very much like a little home instead of an apartment.
We decided not to take the cable with us. For fifty bucks a month I'm not into all the commercials, and the frequency of times that there just wasn't anything on worth watching. Peh to that. We got netflix instead, which is only 18 bucks a month. ;)
It has been a rough, long week of moving and cleaning and cleaning and cleaning (the new place wasn't very clean and we have been SPANKIN' that dirt). Tonight we went back to the old place and did all the last bits of the required cleaning. Even with all the work we did to make sure it was absolutely spotless with hardly a mark to show we were there, I'm still really paranoid about exactly how much of our security deposit we'll get back. They'll take $80 of it to clean the blinds, I know.
I'm posting from Brian's computer since mine isn't set up yet (it's buried in the corner of the office behind desks and boxes. So tired!
I miss you guys, but I'll post some more soon and spend some time trying to catch up on journals, since I've been offline for a few days. Feels like forever!
