I've had a surgery scheduled for next Wednesday set for about 5 weeks now. (For some reason, after it healed up, he felt he needed to wait 6 whole weeks and do it right before the holiday.) It was originally set for 1:00 p.m. and I'm supposed to show up an hour before. Wasn't really sure it was worth working 9:30-11:30 but I'd see. Well, a couple weeks later, I get a letter in the mail from the doctor's office stating my new surgery time was 2:00. The same form as they had given me before but with a different time and a "* Note change in surgery time" notation. OK. Well, at least then I'd be able to get in a 3 hour shift before heading out and getting something to eat on the way to surgery. I informed work and am set in the calendae for a 9:30-12:30 shift that day. Last night I get home and grab my mail. There's an envelope from the doctor's office in there. I open it up and there's the form again, this time with a 12:00 surgery time with the same * notation. WTF?!? What kind of surgeon arbitararily changed patient appointments without even consulting the patient at all? I called the office today. No one is there so I got tossed to the answering service. I left a message with the lady there that I was NOT happy and would NOT be accepting the change in surgery time. I accepted the 2:00 one and would be there for that surgery. I said that if they have a problem, they can call me and left my home and work numbers. If they are changing my surgery time like this, they should be calling me anyway. What if I didn't drive and was getting a ride or something? After all this, I will be giving my regular doctor a letter on NON-recommendation for this doctor and recommending he NEVER send another patient to him.
