Dustz: Underrated yet Deserves Attention

Feb 08, 2017 21:43

For years I think that Dustz has been underrated. The band's been around since mid-2000 yet they don’t receive much love as they deserve.

Dustz changes members several times before settling down to the current formation: Fujita Ray a.k.a Ray (vo), Koorogi Austin Tomoya a.k.a Gus (ba), Ebata Kohei a.k.a (gu) and Shiouchi Koji a.k.a hello (DJ).

Before going major, Dustz made four releases as indie band. They’re Pain (Oct 2006), Never Again (Jan 2007), L&P Compilation CD (March 2007) and World (March 2007). Dustz also released Future (March 2008) and Lapis lazuli (Feb 2009) under Be On Key Records.

My first encounter with Dustz is in 2009. Their song, Brilliant Day was used as the ending song for Oretachi wa Tenshi da! No Angel No Luck. Fujita Ray the vocalist also played in the said series. The series didn’t leave a good impression on me but at least the song did.

Some of Dustz songs are used in various J-drama and anime. Break & Peace (2009) was featured as Sengoku Basara: Samurai Kings anime ending song. It was their major label debut under Epic Records Japan. Two years later Dustz released spiral which was selected as Blood-C anime opening song.

In March 2014 Dustz released S#0 under new label, DolceStar Records. Scene Number Zero, that’s how the single title read, was used as adult tokusatsu series Zero: Black Blood ending song.

This year Fujita Ray reprises his role as Suzumura Rei in Zero: Dragon Blood. It also marks the return of Dustz after two-year break. Dustz performs the ending song, Zoë ~Beautiful World~ .
