My resolutions last year were:
- I will have made three new friends
I'm well and truly covered on the friends front. Sure, I've met them through the standard means - online and at a new workplace - but my social sphere is expanding for the better. Chica has to count as one too :)
- I will have my provisional driver's licence
I don't have my P's, but I do now have my L's. Substandard effort on my part there, I'm afraid.
- I will weigh between 95-105 kilos
I didn't reach the goal, but I did lose 10 kilos in heading towards it. I feel much more confident about fitness generally, and apply both effort and caution when doing exercise so that I can maintain a losing streak without injury or demotivation. I think I'm on track here.
- I will have saved $3000, after accounting for debt
The savings are not where they should be. I live luxuriously though within my means, but occasionally I'm prone to shortsightedness and splurge on something new and shiny for myself... large unanticipated purchases that come to mind are a PS3 ($1000ish), and a dog ($1500ish and counting). I have been thinking more about how I spend my money, however, and am learning.
So, not great, but not terrible nor abandoned. What I achieved includes:
- reacquainting myself with the gym and with my fitness goals
- a promotion and making great waves at the new job
- applying for yet another promotion (6 month contract, but fingers are crossed!)
- learning a bit of responsibility by adopting a dog - a very grounding and rewarding experience
- spoken with and resolved some issues with Anthony - we're back to good friends
- getting my Priest to level 80 and epic'd out with the dungeon finder, w00t!
My resolutions for 2010:
- I will have developed a working budget to help me track expenditure and identify opportunities to increase my savings (with an eye to purchase a car)
- I will have lost another 10kgs and be fitter to the satisfaction of my personal trainer
- I will have made my house a home by unpacking all remaining boxes, organising my papers, and properly decorating each room
- I will help my dog achieve her ideal weight (she needs to lose about 4kgs)
My plan for the year is basically getting fitter and more organised. I already have enough plans for 2010 (two holidays booked already, and pressure is on the rise at work), so I think self-improvement will be the name of the game. I'm not being as ambitious with my goals as I was last year because I felt some things were out of my control (external locus of control, I know) and I really want to make sure I achieve the things I set out for myself. My 2010 resolutions feel achievable, and will set me up for further successes in the years to come.
Wish me luck :)
Until next time.
