Day 18: A game that you wish more people would've played
Freelancer is a little space-sim RPG game that blew my mind. It is a 360-Degrees of Freedom shooter, where the player assumes the role of a freelancer. A freelancer is free to take upon many types of jobs, such as smuggling, piracy, assassination, bounty hunting, assaulting space stations, transporting goods and more. The game alone is ungodly huge and I have never fully reached every star-system in the game. To understand my love for this game, one must understand my borderline fanatic obsession with space and exploring that infinate frontier.
Serius Sector is broken into five main states. Liberty Space originates from America, Brettonia Space founded by the English, Kusari Space comes from Japan's sleeper ship and the final member of the alliance is Reinland, whom draws its heritage from Germany. The fifth section are pretty much lawless star systems and border sectors where independent zoners and pirates dwell.
The Multiplayer is extremely fun, since players can all choose thier own roles and band together at will. Most communities run extremely expansive mods that add capital ships, even more areas and hundreds of new ships. I only wished the game was a tad more popular and had a larger community beyond die-hard fans.
Personally, I'd love to see a sequel with expanded features such as space station ownership, vehicle customization and more RPG elements. Then again, I can always wait for Infinity : The Quest for Earth.
Now to end this post with an awesome Liberty Dreadnought with fancy lighting added.
