I held my temper
When Lion got home, we went to the store and confronted my former boss. She wrote me a new check, paying for all the fees incurred, etc, etc. We went to my bank, where we explained the situation, they were able to verify the validity of this check, gave me cash, told me they'd let me know if I incur any more fees, and I went on my way.
All this process took ALL DAY LONG. Because the moron never answered her phone.
She claimed it was all an honest mistake, and she had been so crazy she forgot to shred the checks from her former account. But I don't believe her.
I also didn't yell at her. I'm just never returning to her place of business. Ever. Again.
I'm looking into unemployment today.

Just so everyone knows: I do have documentation of everything that's happened with her filed away in case I get called into something ugly and legal. I've protected myself. So thank you.
I was also turned down for a retail position today, which makes me quite unhappy. They told me I was unqualified. Really? That's a load of B.S.
