Another Question for Australians

My current mobile phone is Quad-Band, so I've been told that it should still be able to send/receive signals in Australia and consequently am planning on just getting a new SIM card for it rather than buying a whole new phone when I'm out there.

Here's where it gets complicated )

We refer to it as 'Pre-Paid' here. You buy the SIM care (Generally for a very very low cost) and just buy credit as you need it ( ... )

Buy an optus pre-paid $30 sim.

You get the sim and $30 worth of credit. At least, you used to.

Pre-paid sims are a dime a dozen here, you should be fine.

Excellent, free mobile credit is always good. :) Many thanks!
