Brr! You can definitely see that December has arrived in England and it took a quick stop at the Arctic along the way apparently. Pity L.A. doesn't tend to see this kind of weather, or there'd be a multitude of snow related prompts.
This month we netted the rest of the great fic by
celadon_55 that used the challenge prompts from last October (Don, magic, graveyard), namely
Things that Go Bump in the Night and a wonderful chaptered fic from
aleo_70 for the June 2010 prompts (Don, taser, police precinct), namely
Shock.
Clue Challenge #18: December 2010
Who: Don
What: Flute Bowl
Where: Craftsman
With the holiday seasons upon us again, I figured it was time to bring things a bit closer to home. This way those wanting to do a more family oriented fic can do so and hurt Don innocently, while those who want to stick to angst can throw a whole load of emotional whump onto Don's physical whump as the threat to his family would hit him hard.
So, the enigmatic flute bowl that sits so centrally on the table on the Craftsman. What's its history? What has it seen (and perhaps could tell)? As kids, it must surely have been a temptation, something to play with or bring down on your head if poor Donny had decided to pull on a table cloth it stood on.
Or go with the more sinister approach of someone (an intruder, burglar, person out to get Don/Charlie/Alan) smash it over Don's head or even to throw at him. Don could come in and catch them in the act, or they could have been there with the express purpose of going after him or someone else. Now, wouldn't someone going in to attack Charlie (frustrated colleague or student) be surprised to come up against an FBI agent if they hadn't looked into his family?
Maybe Don has just pissed off the wrong people and they take things personally, very personally and aren't above going after him in his brother's house. Or of going after his family in order to gain retribution or even leverage over him.
And isn't the internet an amazing thing? See, I'm making this post on the 2nd of December after
rinkle's post on the 3rd of December.
