So I had to go see the movie today because I'm working swings from Saturday through Wednesday and I know I would absolutely barely be able to avoid spoilers for a week so I dragged myself to the 530 showing (which was surprisingly full), and sat down just as the theme was playing.
Likes:
- Mulder/Scully Romance (see also 'dislikes') - the bed scene and the breakup scene being my favorites
- Fairly good continuity with the show, maybe a little too deliberate at some points. Its like they were screaming: "hey, we watched the show and we want you to know we watched the show too!"
- Random cameo by Skinner
- The priest (what's a good murder story without an ambiguous morals guy?)
- The dialogue, especially Scully's and Scully and the priest
- Scully in general, because Gillian Anderson looked hot
- Mulder's car accident - because I think I've seen that in a really good fanfic piece before, somewhat along the same lines as that scene in the movie
- Mulder's determination leaving Scully behind, again
Dislikes
- Mulder/Scully Romance - while my shipper heart goes a flutter, they could've dialed it down two or three notches and been good. Especially the end scene with the really cheesy music
- The fact that they welcomed Mulder and Scully back with barely a second glance, and seemingly no repercussions, and the fact that the 'you and me against the world' team trusted these two random agents with no second glance
- Totally worthless supporting cast; I would've liked them to fill out the supporting cast a little better, especially the agents working the case. I honestly was more concerned that Mulder witnessed the agent's death than her actually death
- Rather anticlimactic ending, I was expecting them to show us Scully saving the woman in the tank or more bad guys coming up or something
- Scully being a pediatric neurosurgeon (but I let this one slide as it was a forgivable sin)
- The plot, it wasn't a bad plot, but I think with about 30 more minutes of movie, less focus on Mulder and Scully and more on the storyline it would've been much, much better
- Who the hell is Xzibit? And would someone please give this man something else to say?
- Where was the cliffhanger?
- The random Russian immigrant bad guys, once again maybe with a little extra movie we could've learned a little more insight on them. I like to know my bad guys, their history, motivations...
