Homelessness and Hunger Week Sleepout

Nov 13, 2005 17:15

Nationwide, the number of people expected to experience homelessness in a year is 3.5 million. Of that 3.5 million, 1.35 of those are children.

On any given night in Minnesota, 8,800 people are estimated to be homeless.

Starting Sunday night at 9pm, and ending Wednesday morning around 10am, I will be taking part in a sleepout for National Homelessness and Hunger Week for my FTS, The Politics of Homelessness. No showers, no set source of food, nothing electronic, and nothing special to do besides homework, etc. I will have access to e-mail by way of library computers, however, I will not have access to my cell phone, Messengers, etc. However, during that time my Livejournal will be made public to document my experience for friends and family. Feel free to comment at any time or e-mail me at aberger2@gustavus.edu with any questions.

Please pray that my classmates and I, along with other students participating, will take this experience to heart and learn the most we can from it. Thanks, everyone!
-Annie
