Into Darkness with the Wrath of Khan

Saw Star Trek Into Darkness last night.

Lessons learned from the movie:
- The Prime Directive is like the Pirates' Code - they're both more like guidelines.
- Remove an engineer from their post for just one day and everything goes to hell.
- Engineers need to keep in shape too.
- Sherlock and Khan are mirror entities of each other.  They are both the same distance away from the line that is the perfect balance of good/evil, while having the same level of intellect, elitism, and fighting capabilities.  Doesn't hurt that they are portrayed by the same actor.
- There is life after Doctor Who for the Doctor's companions.  I want to see more of them!
- the 1990s that Star Trek "references" seems a bit more interesting than the 1990s that I actually lived through.  The Eugenics War, creation of the superhuman beings... I guess the government is hiding some stuff from us.
- I need to watch all of "Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan" to try to learn more on how similar the two movies are.  [watched it this afternoon - other than the ending and the cry of "Khan!", I couldn't tell too many other similarities other than characters used with the same or slightly altered backstories]
- I know who could play David Bowie if they ever do a biopic on him: Benedict Cumberbatch with long hair.  Near the end of the movie, I swear he was a dead ringer.

Now, I need to rewatch "Star Trek: First Contact".  Finally - something else to watch on Netfliks that is not a TV series (tried to watch what is available for "Torchwood" and "Once Upon A Time"... made it through the 1st season of "Torchwood" but I cannot really watch it anymore since I keep mentally critiquing the appearance of the actors.  "Once Upon A Time" I just kinda dropped out after looking ahead on wikipedia [damn curiosity while being bored at work])

While I enjoyed the movie, I have to say, I felt more fulfilled after watching "Iron Man 3" than "Star Trek Into Darkness".  Perhaps because there was more eye candy in "Iron Man 3"?  Yeah, Killian Aldridge (Guy Pearce) is very nice on these eyes... while I wish they showed more of Khan's (Benedict Cumberbatch) chest like they did in the original "Star Trek" timeline version ;-)

Anywho, it seems like Cumberbatch can be a bit gullible... check out this interview Simon Pegg did on a late night show about this practical joke that he started and how Cumberbatch fell for it.  It's hilarious.

I want Simon Pegg to come over for dinner.  A funny geeky actor.  Awesome. :-)
