I had a good birthday. Ran a 5-mile race (even though it was 80-90 degree heat during the race), finished it, somehow set a new personal best, and placed 3rd in my age group to get a trophy. Saw the movie "Magic Mike" (VERY fun :-) ). Went to a friend's party where we had a huge thunderstorm and saw two trees fall down (one of them bringing down electrical wires with it), had fun removing the one tree covered in poison oak. Good day to turn 28. :-)
I can't believe it is about 2 weeks until the start of the Olympics. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP :-) Track events begin on August 3rd.
Seriously, I think decathletes have the best looking bodies for athletes. Take a look at
this guy. *drool*
I am amazed on how crazy shoe styles AND prices are nowadays.
I definitely feel like I have better fashion sense now than when I first started working out of school. Perhaps fashion has altered itself to my tastes? ;-)
It feels good to put on smaller sized clothes then what you are used to, and having these smaller clothes fit. I must be getting close to my goal weight... at the last weight watcher weigh-in, I was 154.8 lbs (I started at 160.8 lbs; whereas last October, I was 170 lbs). I hope I can keep this lifestyle up, and I know that will be hard since sweets are my downfall. Vegetables are really growing on me though... I like having salads with my lunch now and I am doing better on having fruits for snacks. But at work, there are so many leftovers from lunch-meetings that temptation is a big issue.
I did my first group track workout since graduate school on Tuesday. Some members of my running club got together at a local track to do some speed work. I did 5x400m, with a lap rest in between (walk/jog during the rest). 1st 400 - 1:40, 2nd 400 - 1:42; 3rd 400 - don't know (ran by myself and I don't have a watch); 4th 400 - ~1:45; 5th 400 - ~ 1:34. Definitely slower than what I ran in college, but if I keep coming back, I think I can get it down some more.
High school reunion coming up. That will be interesting. What to wear?
Back to work.
