So I sort of dropped off the face of the internet again. Sorry guys! New house, new job, and I'm a single parent for most of the week these days (my hubby lives close to work and spends his two days a week off with us... which leaves me to deal with the kiddos on my own the other 5 days of the week). It's a strange arrangement but I really find that I'm enjoying the new set up. I have family with me to help me out since I moved closer to them and I honestly have more friends in this area than I did in the place I'd been living for four years.
Anyway, posted my big bang last month and I'm working on my sterek_big_bang. Have to get caught up in email and comments today so I can focus a little. Still moving out of boxes at home but I'm decorating steampunk so it will take me a while to get everything the way I like it. It's making it a little hard to focus on the writing... but I'm trying :P
Also not helpful? Theater. :P My kids are doing Seussical with my brother's theater, and I'm super excited because both of them got the parts they wanted. My son wanted to be in chorus so he is. My daughter wanted one of the big roles and she got that too! Yeah! The theater is also doing Midsummer Night's Dream. I'll be playing Titania and my daughter will be Cobweb (my niece and nephew will be the other fairies :P). Which turned into me starting to run a fundraiser for the theater. Which then turned into me doing costumes for the show. Wait... what??
Did I mention I can't sew a straight line? Let's hope no one notices crooked seams. So, if you happen to have any handy dandy sewing tips, feel free to send them my way. Or, if you know how to make durable wings.... because I need to make six sets that will survive tech week and two weekends of performances :P
Also.... if you were going to run a fundraiser for something, what would you do? It's a children's non-profit theater and my brother is barely keeping it afloat right now. He's struggling and it's such a great place for kids. Honestly, my son wouldn't be able to do theater if it weren't for them. In Midsummer, there is a twelve year old who is interested in directing someday so they asked if he could work with my brother, so he's my brother's stage manager. In Seussical, two of the girls who have a dance background were asked if they wanted to try their hands at choreographic a dance number they have together. Where else can kids get a chance to expand past performing like that? It's such a great place and I'm brainstorming on how to help. I'd love some thoughts from ideas you have, or anything you've done that just seemed like fun at the time!
So. New job. New life. New people and friends. New experiences (first rehearsal for me on stage in over 18 years last night :P What a rush!) I can't wait to see what comes next :P
