What is unique about you?

SPOILERS for Season 2
Y'know, a year or so back, I'd have been rattling off an entire list of things that I thought were unique about me off. But things have changed. I know so much more than I did then - about life, about the world around me; there's very little I can claim that's unique about me.
The way I grew up…always thought that was pretty unique. Hell, it wasn't like any other kid I knew, not like anyone I met. But then, there are whole loads of people out there I don't know: hunters, like us. How do I know their lives weren't like ours? They all had to learn those skills some time.
I wasn't the only one whose mom died at the hand of that demon, pinned to the nursery ceiling, burning, not the only person whose girlfriend went the same way.
Hell, those freaking death visions aren't even unique either, and I can bet Ava's not the only other person to have them.
I'm not the only one with a destiny that's pointing to turning evil, I'm not the only one the demon's after… My story isn't unique.
But you know what makes me unique? Different from all the other children like me? Family.
Everything that's always made me different from all the other kids at school still makes me different now. This time, it isn't the fact that I bow hunt rather than play soccer; or I learnt an exorcism before I could tie my shoelaces… It's that Dad never gave up, never went the way Max's Dad did, never blamed me when he could have. It's that I had Dean to cover when I did play soccer, or tie my shoelaces as I tried to get the exorcism right.
What makes me different is the fact that Dad left Dean with me to watch my back. And I know Dean's got it.
Whatever plans there are in my future, whatever redemption there might not be waiting, that's one thing I can't regret.
Though I wish we'd been able to have that like any other normal family - without the demon hunting and the constant drive for revenge, and with a mom - I still won't regret I had Dad and Dean.
And that's what's unique about me.
