Denver, Colorado

In Denver we stop only long enough to spend an hour at the public library. It is spacious and comfortable, four floors with escalators.

I realize for the first time how much alike all cities are. I hate cities. I need to live in natural areas. I cannot stand the concrete, the sense of sterility and ineptitude. Decay does not bother me-decay is part of the cycle of life. It’s sterility that bothers me-the ultimate denial of life and natural processes. Taking us outside of reality into our denial of life. I cannot live like that. Neither can anything else! One must fight life to be sterile and bleak!
