Unheard Of

„If only I could I’d make it all better.“

How pretty those words sounded in complete silence. How perfect.Made to be said in silence, in privacy, when sharing one of their rare intimate moments.

“If I could I’d make time turn back again.”

Empty words pretending to carry such depth. Hollowed out and yet sounding so promising in utter silence. So alluring. Made to give in to, to be spoken in the quiet of the night, the darkness hiding anything that might give away the ugly truth, the miserable reality.

It’s easy to fool yourself in darkness.

“If I could I’d kiss away those scars”

and

“If I could I’d have prevented it”

to cover up what was hidden underneath layers of make up, what was left behind in shadows with the light only illuminating what the world wanted to see. Pretty words muttered in between rushed and messy kisses, sloppy but all the more precious for that. Words made to be said when they were hurriedly making out in shady chambers, between shelves and tables, nothing but shadows of themselves and yet being more real than they ever were in the real world.

Sticky-sweet words lulling the past in a lukewarm layer of alluring oblivion, shoving the demons to the very back of Ruki’s mind, the pain of a long time ago nowhere to be found and yet infecting his soul like a virus.

“If only I’d have the might to save you.”

Drowning in heat and sweat-slicked bodies, made to be forgotten by sunrise, but in that moment, they were their reality. The thing they clung onto, in the silence of the darkness, seeing through each other with blind eyes, healing wounds with paralized hands and loving without knowing what love was. Without even knowing what they were doing, what that feeling was that made Ruki believe in half-truths and lies lacking substance.

That feeling that seemed to vanish into midair once they were out in the real world again, being where they belonged to and yet feeling quite unreal, with an invisible line seperating them from where they should be, wondering when the hell they had lost their minds.
