I'm always up for trying out new manga/whatever.... and I heard of Honey and Clover before but had never read it, up until a few days ago.
And let me just say... What. The. Fuck.
It just keeps going and nothing ever resolves, but you keeping hoping it will... in someway you know, you just know it must eventually resolve. But. It. Never. Does. The one thing the manga does really well is it creates fairly multi-dimensional characters with realistic issues. Almost all are sort of goofy in one way or another (though elfin looking Hagu-chan and quirky Morita are probably the most odd) but they all have serious sides and struggles. Two love triangles are introduced in the first volume and is what the story essentially gravitates around, though other big themes are the characters getting jobs and finding themselves. These love triangles though just never end. Its always one character or another thinking they need to move on ( and, let's face it, they really really do need to move on). But no. No one every really does. And people...sort of get jobs. Well, one does. But even those themes of personal growth never seem to happen.
I realize life is uncertain and not always resolvable but really.... is it too much to ask my stories eventually, sorta, are? Why make us care about the characters and never have anything happen to them!
