Taeyeon didn't wait long to call that number. She only took another half an hour to ponder on what to say before dialling. She hadn't even left the cafe yet. Her heart raced as she waited for the call to be picked up, and she held her breath when she heard an uncertain voice saying, "Hello?"
"Oh, man that voice", she thought dreamily before replying in the steadiest voice she could muster as she fiddled mindlessly with the napkin, "Is this Tiffany? Uh, I got your number from the, um, waiter."
"Oh! Oh, hi," the voice had turned shy and meek, and somehow it was so cute that Taeyeon blushed at the sound of it. She couldn't help but smile.
"I'm Taeyeon," she managed to speak up when nothing else was said. She thought, maybe Tiffany was feeling really embarrassed. She knew she would be if she had taken that first step. "Thank you for the note," she said awkwardly, not really sure how else she should bring up the matter.
"N-no problem, Taeyeon," Tiffany had replied, and the stuttering made Taeyeon grin.
Another awkward silence and Taeyeon bit her lip nervously. She wished she was brave enough to be blunt. She figured she could try, seeing how Tiffany did make the first step. "So-" she started before she was interrupted.
"I'm sorry," Tiffany chimed in. "I don't really do this- I mean, I've never done this before- giving my number like this."
Taeyeon chuckled at that, finding it endearing. Suddenly, she felt brave enough. "Are you free tomorrow?"
A pause before she heard a confused, "Huh?"
"If you are, meet me back here- at the cafe- say, 7?" She didn't know where all the courage came from but she kind of liked it, the anticipation of waiting for an answer.
Another brief pause before Tiffany replied, her voice stronger and happier. "Yeah, 7's good."
Taeyeon grinned. She was relieved and excited, but she didn't want it to be confusing for them. She wanted it to be clear to the both of them that it wasn't friendship she was initiating. She hesitated for a while before boldly asking, "So, it's a date?"
A soft chuckle, and Tiffany's voice turned shy again. "It's a date."

Free Falling.
She wasn't a fan of extreme sports, never liking thrillers or horror films. In general, she never liked feeling her heart pound hard against her chest, or feeling as if the floor was pulled from under her feet. She never liked it when she wasn't in control of something. It was funny though, how dating Tiffany felt similar to those.
Tiffany made her heart race; she occasionally sweeps Taeyeon off her feet and more often than not, Taeyeon could feel her whole body tingling with anticipation just from waiting for her to arrive.
They've been seeing each other for almost three months and in the second month they had made it clear to each other that they would prefer it if the other did not see anyone else. It was fast, she knew, and Taeyeon couldn't help but feel like she was free falling. Just like gravity, Tiffany pulled her in effortlessly, and she was a little scared by it because she had no control over how she was feeling. She was falling fast, and she really wished she knew how to slow down. It couldn't be good, falling that fast for someone in such a short period of time.
As they roamed the crowded night market and reached an even more crowded area, Taeyeon reached out for Tiffany's hand and loosely held it. She wouldn't want them to get separated while trying to leave the market. She hid her smile when she felt Tiffany's hand tightening the hold, feeling warm and content all over.
She spared the quiet girl a glance once they were in a less crowded area and noticed how the latter was looking down. The girl had a small smile on her face, looking at their joined hands and before she could say anything, Tiffany moved to lace their fingers together before looking up and beaming at her.
Tiffany tugged gently on their hands, pulling her close until their shoulders touched, and Taeyeon almost stopped walking altogether because Tiffany was absolutely glowing. She could see how happy she was.
Then, she figured, she didn't mind free falling and falling too fast. She wasn't falling alone because she knew then that Tiffany was falling with her. She didn't feel that scared anymore because knowing that she wasn't alone, was comforting.
