Mother / Son Outing

Goofy is away on business today and tomorrow, so I'm home alone with Max. Due to the location of camp and my office, trying to get him dropped off and picked up and still be able to work a full day was challenging at best. So, instead, I decided to take the two days off.

Goofy and Max do lots of father/son things: they've been to DisneyWorld a couple of time just the two of them, been to Great Adventure, gone to see baseball things, etc. Max and I, however, don't enjoy enough of the same kinds of things to do this successfully. However, Goofy hated to see the days "wasted" with no Mother/Son "fun" stuff.

After lots of discussions, surfing, and brainstorming, Max and I decided to go into the city (NYC) for the day. Although we were originally going to the Intrepid, Max decided that seeing the current exhibit at the American Museum of Natural History, Lizards and Snakes Alive!, sounded more interesting. So, six trains (three each way, because no way am I driving in the city!) later, Max and I saw the Lizards and Snakes Alive! exhibit, watched the Cosmic Collisions planetarium show, watched the Amazing Caves IMAX show, checked out the dinosaurs exhibit, the space museum, the meteorites, minerals and gems exhibits, and saw bits and pieces of the anthropological and/or historical exhibits, we're home, safe and sound. And exhausted.

Even better, my father's finally home from the hospital (he was there for over a week), and seems to be doing much better. He's still sure he's going to need surgery, but he wouldn't be him if he couldn't be a major pessimist. It was Ogilvie's Syndrome, which sounds like one of those "We don't know what causes it, we don't know how to cure it, just keep the patient alive until it goes away and he's all better" things, but I'm no doctor.

I hope everyone out there is doing well. I think I might just give in to the closing eyes thing and go to sleep. Pleasant dreams to all out there.
