Pretty much the same demo reel as before, but with new contact info. Youtube does not make it easy to delete one video and upload another! Or maybe I'm just dumb! Also, the old one I erased keeps popping up in Google, and I can't seem to find this new one at all. I imagine that'll sort itself out over a few days...
The writing has actually been progressing, though it's been frustrating. I'm kicking at this one short screenplay I'm trying to finish writing for a producer I've worked with before (who produced and starred in that short film of mine that actually got made), and I can't really get into details, because the idea is not wholly mine, I was sort of pulled in as a hired gun on someone else's concept. It's a tricky premise involving a trained dog in the central role (it's pretty weird), which is IMMENSELY difficult to write around and I have a whole new respect (or perhaps just pity) for the Littlest Hobo writers, and I just feel like I've written myself into a corner and I can't make the ending make sense. I will put one final polish on it today, and send it out with a cry for help.
I've also thought of an interesting idea for a short film that I could act in as well that would be a good candidate for BravoFact funding or something. It's funny but smart, and a little "issue"-y, but organically so. I know a few directors/producers who've been through that process, and if I could get them interested...could become a thing...
And of course the research and note-making continues for Ship Wreck...
This will need to wait til I have some cash flow happening, but I'm thinking about upgrading to a smart phone of some kind in the near future. I'd kinda like to avoid an iPhone if at all possible (not some Mac/PC bullshit, just personal preferences), have heard good things about Android phones, etc. But it's kind of a new world to me. Anyone have any super-strong opinions or good advice? Anyone on a super-awesome plan I should check out? I'd probably like something with a good camera element, perhaps even HD video capabilities if such a thing exists. I really like the design of the HTC phones I've seen, but my research leads me to believe there are battery life issues with HTC in general. Anyone know?
twiin, don't you have one of those? You seem pretty happy with it, and you're a discerning sort when it comes to these things... Anyway that's a thing for the near future.
I have been turning around the idea of maybe looking into bartending training or certification or whatever as maybe a skill I ought to develop. Again that is a thing that is somewhat money-dependent, so... I don't think I could tend bar just anywhere. Like some douche cavern down on King Street? No thanks. But the right KIND of place? Could be fun. Sort of an idle thought, I could see myself being really good or really terrible at it. But I am starting to feel like I need to face the fact that I may not be able to pull steady employment in an office anytime soon, until that shit starts picking up, so I should maybe think hard and for real about whether or not I can bite the bullet and suffer some tip-subsidised work.
