prom, oyster bake, etc.

so......i had a really weird prom experience.

to start off, before prom my mom invited her artist friend Gerry and Gerry's photographer brother to come and take senior pictures of me, complete with all the photography equipment lighting, etc. That took a good hour of fake smiling.
then, we moved inside and my mom started blasting her strange african tribal music and brought in a fan and we took more pictures. We had to move the furniture and everything, and Gerry kept messing with me and my clothes to make "the lines flow more aesthetically." i swear it was like a full-blown model shoot, as dave later described it between fits of laughter.
Yes, my friend and prom date dave walked in on this chaotic, drum-beating scene. To say he was surprised and confused would be putting it mildly. Then of course we took MORE PICTURES both inside and even outside in the front yard as he and I tried to escape into the car. Then Mia called amist the confusion and then I had to call rosa to tell her we were going to be late. What a mess!

Dinner at Carmen de la Calle's with rosa and tommy was fun, good food, good conversation. Then we were the first ones at prom which really sucked. Finally, people started to arrive and we hung around for a while but the music went from bad to worse so david and i split. We went to see the fireworks at oyster bake but it turns out that was only on friday. so, we started to head back but got lost and stopped at a random ghetto gas station to go to the bathroom (nasty gas station bathroom+long white promdress =complicated peeing situtation). By the time we made it back to the prom there were only 20 minutes left and we had missed prom king, senior song, and senior picture :( oh well, at least i had a good time talking with dave, he's always an interesting guy. we had fun laughing about our moms/families.

After prom we went to koepp's condo but it was really boring so we just went home after like 10 minutes. I don't know how it was at jake's but i'm pretty sure there were no decent afterparties to speak of. oh well, that just means fewer brain cells were killed last night than would have been.

all in all, a decent senior prom. although i'm definately looking more forward to state tennis and rockport and of course, the all important GRADUATION!

It's so close I can taste it.
