Aah, spring is in the air. I'm a simple man: a new gasket for my coffee-maker, a sunny day, a washing-line on which to hang my laundry, and I'm happy enough. Ok, I could do with a job, and I wish I could get the bank to leave me alone, but with classes over for a month (yay, established-church enforcing Christian holidays!) I feel like I have some breathing room to deal with pressing problems.
Meanwhile, friend-of-the-
GF,
Fletch, eloquently reviews this year's SXSW:
"Upcoming bands must comprise of a minimum of five members, one of whom is on stage exclusively to look pretty, smile, and sing "Yeah, yeah, yeah" in the background. Attractive females are a plus for this position, but portly, awkward-looking guys can stand-in in a pinch."
If that piques your interest, go listen to the music; the official SXSW website has/had a
whole bunch of free downloads (look for the cassette icon), whilst, gulp, SXSW sponsor
Toyota Yaris (again, thanks
Fletch)
also had a whole bunch of free downloads.
There doesn't seem to be any nerdy Central Asian cultural stuff I can link to right now, so I leave you with something which is new to me (thanks for the t/o Alice), but doubtless not to my US-based readership ...
