Such a delightful day yesterday. I have Fridays off work, since they're only giving me 30 hours a week this summer. I'm glad- I need some time to myself, and having 3 days weekends is kind of appealing, even though I do love my library friends. Scratch that. Library family. And with family (well, I suppose friends as well) comes drama. I won't get into it now, but things are definitely heating up. It's terrifying and enthralling all at once.  But I digress.
Spent most of yesterday afternoon outside- lunch and reading about World's Fairs. Absolutely gorgeous out. Too bad I'm now red as a lobster- but it's my own fault, since I didn't think to put sunscreen on and decided it would be a good idea to sit in the sun. Clearly college doesn't always make you smarter.
Such a lazy day. I didn't finish drinking my coffee until about 7 pm... although I don't think it was to blame for my less-than-restful night of sleep. I'll blame that on the sunburn and other things fretting my mind... yet somehow I did manage to have time to dream about knit hats. Don't ask me why... I don't know. But I think this could be a terrible sign of addiction, no? Schade. :-)
And as yesterday was my dad's big 5-0, we celebrated by eating in front of the TV while watching Bridge On the River Kwai. Good movie- kind of long, and not much action, but it makes you think and have to put things together. Not having seen it before, I enjoyed it. Minus almost dozing off in the middle. Don't worry-- the big celebration is coming on Sunday, since Mom doesn't have to work.
Today is another lazy day. We're supposed to go run around and do errands, but we have yet to get moving. I'm planning on reading more of Fair America, as well as hunt down All the World's a Fair and reread that one. I did start knitting the baby sweater the other night, and only got through the base, so I'll try get more of that done today as well. It's going to be really cute and colorful-- hopefully I'll be able to find another skein of yarn for it with the right dye lot. Oops.
And of course, tonight will conclude with our annual viewing of The Longest Day. Quite possibly one of my favorite war movies. Excellent cast, good action, and the ability to tell things from both the American and German side of the war. Score one for Hollywood.
Besides... it's not every day that John has a long mustache.
